My Story

(Stanlee) Angela Morgan was named after her father, Stanley Morgan, a renowned guitarist who led the world-famous quartet, the Ink Spots, with a career spanning 40 years, until his death. Under her father’s tutelage, she is no stranger to stages and bright lights having started performing at a young age. She is the sister of the late alto saxophone great, Frank Morgan. Her candid reflections of her brother and growing up in a family of entertainers are featured in the film "Sound of Redemption: The Frank Morgan Story."

Angela is Vice President of The Houston Blues Society and former board member of The Houston Blues Museum, as well as the Director of the Minority Nightclub Owners Association (NCLBA) for over 5 years. Following in the footsteps of her father, she is a former owner of two Houston nightclubs and the founder of Morgan’s Damn Good Band. Her favorites vary from covering Ink Spot tunes to bebop-style of Jazz, as well as Rhythm & Blues with a swing. Angela's voice and sultry, sassy stage presence is reminiscent of Carmen McCrae, Diane Krall, and Layla Hathaway, to name a few.
